Dates fruit with mint leaves
Israeli scientists have grown fresh dates from 6th-century BCE seed.
It is believed that seeds were brought by the exiles coming back after the First Temple was destroyed.
Grown from ancient seeds found at Masada and Qumran and likely brought back to Judea from Babylon in the sixth century BCE, the fresh dates symbolize the remarkable resilience of God’s creation.
*NOTE: In October 2021, we’ll be on Masada where one of the seeds was found and also by the Kibbutz in Southern Israel where the seeds were grown. This is part of our Break Forth Israel & Jordan Tour.
Called ‘The Discovery Of A Lifetime’, elaborately decorated capitals bearing the symbol of the Judahite monarchy apparently from a palace erected 2,700 years ago were discovered in Jerusalem.
It is thought that this was built during King Hezekiah’s time.
